On 7 February 2012 the Executive Committee of the UNECE approved the Extrabudgetary project Public-Private Partnerships (PPP) Initiative of which the International PPP Centre of Excellence forms an important part. The UNECE Initiative is a cost-effective innovative programme to deliver capacity-building based on international best practice in PPP through the UNECE International PPP Centre of Excellence, a chain of interlinking agencies consisting of a central coordinating centre at the UNECE in Geneva, and Specialist Centres located around the globe, working on the basis of multilateral cooperation and real partnership.
